JT Studio: Introduction to Music Theory and Sight Singing
with Michael Tyree
Grades 7-12
Welcome to JT studio, a series of intensive programs geared towards students looking for advanced training. Ideal for students pursuing musical theatre at a high level, this course builds the confidence, technique, and artistry needed to shine in both solo and collaborative settings.
Strengthen your foundation as a singer by developing the skills to read, understand, and perform music with confidence. Using solfège and scale degrees, explore how notes relate to one another while learning to hear and sing intervals and chords. Practice reading and clapping rhythms, identify pitches in standard notation, and gradually combine rhythm and melody through sight singing. Along the way, you'll gain a deeper understanding of musical concepts, including dynamics and articulation, strengthening the musicianship that supports every vocalist.
Please note this class will not meet on 10/15.
