Winter Break Camp Session #1
with Various Instructors

Grades K-6
School may be out, but theatre is in! Elementary students are welcome to join us for fun-filled days rotating through classes in drama, music, dance and a specialty subject (improv, stage combat, design, etc). Whether your child is used to the spotlight or new to the stage, Junior Theatre’s camps have something for everyone! Friends and family will be invited to an Open Sharing on the final day of camp to see a sampling of what students have learned.
*Camp days are from 9am-3pm. Students must be at least 5 years old and enrolled in a school program to participate. A detailed informational letter will be sent out the week prior to camps. Students should bring a water bottle, a sack lunch and two snacks.
For the safety of all students, we have a closed classroom policy. Adults are not permitted to sit in on JT classes until our invited Open Sharing on the final day of classes or camps.

Homeschool: Page to Stage

Ages 8-12
Transform a poem into a unique story for the stage! In collaboration with your peers and teaching artist, create a one-of-a-kind play based on the texts of beloved poets like William Shakespeare, Shel Silverstein, Emily Dickinson and others. Learn the basics of script writing and dip your toes in the world of devised theatre. Take on the role of a playwright, director and actor to create a completely original performance to share on the final day of class.

Stories on Stage: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Grades 4-6
Navigate the wacky world of Westmore Middle School with friends like Greg Heffley and Rowley Jefferson. Learn the fundamentals of working with a script and analyzing a character as you rehearse and perform scenes inspired by Jeff Kinney’s iconic book series. Celebrate JT's upcoming production of Diary of a Wimpy Kid by bringing Greg’s stories to life and showcasing your piece for family and friends on the final day of class! ZooWeeMama!

Take your vocal technique to the next level! Learn how to match pitch, carry a tune and hold your own harmony in this singing class perfect for anyone looking to further their musical theatre skills. Train your ear to find harmonies in some of your favorite songs and practice musical theatre classics in two- and three-part harmonies.

Celebrate JT’s upcoming spring production of Puffs by exploring the art of parody and satire through improv and performance. Grow confidence in character creation and quick thinking while embarking on a whimsical journey filled with fantastical spells and comical misadventures. Share your over-the-top creations with friends and family at an Open Sharing on the final day of class!

Dancing Through Life
with Leasa Thernes

Grades 4-6
Cast your spell in this dance and acting-based class designed for students with all levels of experience! Build coordination by performing enchanting tunes from magical musicals like Aladdin, Wicked, Moana and more! Gain comfort with basic dance terminology and choreography while using acting skills to “sell” a number and shine on stage.
