Advanced Sewing Clinic

Aspiring costume designers will refine intermediate sewing skills and tap into your own creative designing imagination! Designer and costume loft manager Tammy Molenaar will guide young artists through the steps of costume design and construction in this experiential workshop-- from fabric selection, to reading patterns, to creating your own costume piece. A great choice for teens who love to crew JT shows and want to learn more about theatrical design.
Some prior hand and machine sewing experience is required. Students who own a sewing machine are encouraged to bring their own.
Blackbox Theatre: Rehearsal and Performance
with Sarah Siegel
Whether you’re an experienced actor or have always wanted to get on stage, this skill-building offering is your opportunity to audition, rehearse and perform in a one-act play! Classes will be spent auditioning, rehearsing, developing characters and strengthening your acting technique. The class will culminate in a shared performance of the play for friends and family.
Please note: There will be an audition requirement for this class, which will determine casting. Casting decisions are at the sole discretion of the Teaching Artist. The title of the play is TBD contingent upon enrollment numbers. Since class serves as rehearsal time, enrollment in this class is a commitment to regular attendance.
Solos, Duets and Trios

Solidify your foundation in vocal performance through this technique-focused class. Shine in your solos and learn to blend and harmonize with your peers. Students will review and strengthen skills in breathwork and musical interpretation, and gain skills for working alongside Music Directors. Hit all the right notes in any audition or performance setting!
Backstage Pass: Puppet Making Workshop Sr

Ever wonder how the magic you see onstage gets created backstage? Welcome to Backstage Pass: a hands-on workshop to learn the tech side of theatre! In this four-hour workshop, aspiring props artisans and stagehands will learn the basics of constructing various styles of puppets. Junior Theatre Assistant Production Manager and Teaching Artist, Isaac Vermilye, will guide young artists through the steps of puppet history, design and construction in this experiential workshop. A great choice for teens who love to crew JT shows!

D&D is at its core a theatrical game encompassing role playing, character creation, storytelling and collaboration. Under the guidance of JT Teaching Artist and Music Director Eliza Vedar, students will use Dungeons and Dragons as a framework to strengthen theatrical instincts and create original campaigns. Celebrate (and poke fun at) musical theatre with some of the silliest send-ups to ever make their way to Broadway! Refine your dance techniques and bring new life to your performances while dancing along to hits from Something Rotten, Shrek, Spamalot, 9 to 5 and more. Embrace the metatheatrical while using dance and showmanship to embody some of musical theatre’s zaniest, most over-the-top characters!
