Embark on a magical expedition of self-discovery and creativity with Junior Theatre! Designed to empower budding performers, this immersive experience invites students to explore the wonders of storytelling through the art of creative play. Gain confidence on stage, foster social skills and set sail on new adventures each week. Let the journey begin!

* For students ages 4 and up. Students must be fully potty-trained to participate in camps and classes. For the safety of all students, we have a closed classroom policy. Adults are not permitted to sit in on JT classes until our invited Open Sharing on the final day of classes or camps. Please note that this class will not meet on Memorial Day, 5/27.

Ages 8-12

Unleash creativity and quick thinking through improv! Develop self-confidence, listening and communication skills, and a respect for your fellow performers. Improvisational theater is an excellent foundation for all types of performance, not to mention a hilariously good time!

Grades 7-12

Whether you’re trying to land a role or enhance a solo moment onstage, confidence performing monologues is a vital part of theatre. Learn tips for selecting and performing monologues, and how to bring a speech to life beat by beat. Share your polished piece with family and friends at Open Sharing on the final day of class!

Would you bring Knuffle Bunny to Balboa Park? Would you let the pigeon act in a play, or become friends with Elephant and Piggy? Explore the ABC’s of acting, self-expression and creativity through the stories of Mo Willems! Young actors will learn performance fundamentals and ignite their imaginations to bring these popular tales to life through dramatic play. Share your new storytelling skills with friends and family on the final day of class!

Grades 1-3

Immerse yourself in the whimsical creations of beloved children’s author Roald Dahl! Rehearse scenes from iconic tales like James and the Giant Peach, Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. From developing expressive acting techniques to embodying Dahl's unforgettable characters, embrace the magic of performance inspired by one of literature's most imaginative storytellers.

Grades 4-6

The game is afoot! Embrace your inner sleuth as we master the art of observation and unravel mysteries through performance. Grow acting skills with iconic investigators like Sherlock Holmes, Harriet the Spy and more as we unlock the secrets of the stage. From crafting spy personas to solving onstage mysteries, piece the clues together to bolster creativity and confidence.

Grades 4-6

Just keep swimming! Join Marlin, Dory and friends as we put together a sampling of songs and scenes in celebration of Junior Theatre’s upcoming production of Disney's Finding Nemo Jr.! Grow skills in all areas of musical theatre while bringing a truncated version of this beloved tale to life in the classroom. Share your underwater adventures with friends and family at our Open Sharing performance on the final day of class!

Grades 1-3

Use your imagination to bring a play to life! Drawing inspiration from literature and original ideas, collaborate with your classmates and teaching artist to bring your own story to the stage! Grow skills in playwriting, teamwork and performance and share your original piece with friends and family on the last day of class.
