Grades 7 and 8

Hone your improv skills by jumping into unscripted scenes where anything can happen! Improv training provides a solid foundation in developing strong listening skills and sharp instincts. Explore character and story in real time, supporting scene partners while making confident, specific choices. Short-form games keep the energy high, while longer improvisations allow scenes to grow and evolve. Practice staying present on stage, heightening moments without forcing them, and challenging yourself to take creative risks!

Grades 4-6

Come under the sea with JT and bring a condensed version of this beloved musical to life! Strengthen acting and singing skills as you swim through a world of magical melodies with unforgettable characters like Ariel, Flounder, and Ursula. Mini-musicals provide young performers a unique opportunity to build ensemble and performance skills and grow confidence while preparing for future productions.

Grades 1-3

Pikachu chooses YOU! Jump into the world of Pokémon and become a Trainer who creates a brand new Pokémon of your own. Through acting games and imaginative play, you’ll discover how your Pokémon moves, sounds, and shows its powers, then bring it to life for an audience. Team up with fellow Trainers to imagine new adventures, face off against Team Rocket, and save the day together. Along the way, you’ll build confidence, collaboration, and performance skills in a playful world powered by imagination. Gotta catch ’em all!

Grades 4-6

Let your favorite music be your guide! Foundational technique meets creative freedom as we practice core dance skills while experimenting with rhythm, style, and expression. From your favorite pop hits to movie soundtracks, showtunes, and beyond, every song becomes a new opportunity to shine on stage.

Grades 1-3

Follow your curiosity down the rabbit hole into a world full of whimsy and wonder! Design magical realms, mischievous creatures, and fantastical props, then bring them to life through storytelling. Explore beloved characters and unusual settings as art and imagination collide in this delightfully topsy-turvy adventure.

Grades 4-6

What if Cinderella had never lost her slipper, or the Big Bad Wolf had never found the Little Pigs’ houses? Combine acting and playwriting as we work together to reimagine classic fairy tales, twisting familiar stories into bold, original adventures. Through character work and collaborative storytelling, young actors explore humor, conflict, and unexpected outcomes while building confidence on stage. Celebrate JT’s spring production of Shrek the Musical as we flip “once upon a time” on its head and bring quirky, fractured fairy tales to life!

Grades 7-12

Welcome to the new JT studio, a series of intensive programs geared towards students looking for advanced training. Ideal for students pursuing musical theatre at a high level, this course builds the confidence, technique, and artistry needed to shine in both solo and collaborative settings.

Approaching Shakespeare as we do - as actors interpreting his work four centuries after the plays were performed, we inevitably tend to focus on the language -  on giving life to his soaring rhetoric and expansive thinking.  However, the theater of Shakespeare's day which he both embraced and reinvented was largely one of physical spectacle.  In all of his plays, intellectual and spiritual reflection is made more vivid by contrasting it against scenes of broad physical comedy, grand buffoonery, and antic folly on the part of the rustics, clowns and fools.   In many of Shakespeare's comedies these elements of inversion and anarchy become dominant.  These plays draw upon performance traditions such as Commedia Dell’arte, Morality plays, and even Elizabethan holiday pageants -  all forms which delight in physical exuberance and fully embodied characterization.    The class will focus on engaging the stock character physical forms of Commedia Dell’arte and applying them to characterization in Shakespeare's plays where the influence of Commedia is at the forefront.  Students will also learn to play within and exploit the unique actor-audience relationship that many of his comedies revel in.   Drawing upon material from The Comedy of Errors, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Tempest, students will learn an approach to Shakespearean comedy that is expansive, extempore, and flirts with a kind of sublime anarchy that can liberate and enliven Shakespeare's work, as well as the actor performing it.

PreK-K Students

Hop into a magical time machine that leads to amazing adventures! Develop your actor’s tools, using your body, voice, and imagination to ride dinosaurs, explore medieval castles, and envision what the future might hold. Through movement, pretend play, and acting games, young performers bring adventures to life while stretching their imagination and creativity.

* For students ages 4 and up. Students must be fully potty-trained to participate in camps and classes. For the safety of all students, we have a closed classroom policy. Adults are not permitted to sit in on JT classes until our invited Open Sharing on the final day of classes or camps.
